A Kitwe Magistrate’s court has granted K5, 000 bail to a 38-year-old man of Chunga Government Farms in Lusaka, who is accused of being in possession breaking elements including an axe.
Moses Kayindu appeal before Senior Resident Magistrate Oswald Mwansa Chibalo for being in possession of breaking elements.
When the matter came up for plea, Kayindu denied being in possession of breaking elements among them an axe.
Details of the case are that on May 24 this year in Kitwe Kayindu had in his possession two iron bars, one cutter, one axe and a pliers with Intent to commit a felony.
Kayindu denied the offence and applied to the court for bail while the state did not object to.
Mr Chibalo therefore granted him K5, 000 bail in his own recognisance with two working sureties who should be residents of Kitwe.
The case was adjourned to June 18 for trial.
According to Mr Champo, the local authority had been losing a lot of money through misappropriation.
And other Lusaka resident, Lazarous Chansa, said paying through the bank would promote transparency and accountability in the handling of council revenue.
He said some council officers were in the habit of issuing fake receipts to clients and misappropriate government funds.
He hoped that the change of system would help ensure quality delivery of services.
