A Clerk at Zanaco Limited in Ndola has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for stealing K3 million from her employers.
Ndola Principle Resident Magistrate Obbister Musukwa slapped the jail sentence on Chile Mapande, female employee aged 33 years, who stole the money on different dates while she was employed at Zanaco industrial branch.
She was charged with two counts of theft by public servant and another charge of false accounting.
Mapande had earlier denied all the charges but while trial was underway she admitted the theft with six witnesses already having testified.
Details of the case are that between January 1, 2015 and November 2016, Mapande engaged in false accounting while in second count she stole K77,652 from an account belonging to Wabungu Ngoni between July 4,2015 and October 8, 2016.
