The Radisson Blu sponsored annual musical event ‘Battle of the Bands’ in Lusaka has been cancelled following what has been termed as ‘lack of sufficient response from the local bands (participants)’.
This is according to information contained in a statement from Radisson Blu made available to Daily Nation Entertainment News.
Radisson Blu’s General Manager Johan Klang, the organisers regretted the cancellation the event which last year showed great signs of growth and dedication to improving Zambian music.
The Battle of the Bands was created two years ago as a competition that promotes authentic Zambian music and live performances. It is one competition that puts participants in a series of tasks which later leads to only a few being shortlisted for a big performance on the night of the event.
On the event day, three top bands walk away with prize money to help them improve their music.
Last year, the event was held at Radisson Blu. It received great support and attendance to give it room for more growth this year.
This cancellation has however received mixed feelings and some stakeholders are working hard to see how it can be reversed.
