BE PROFESSIONAL, COPS TOLD

POLICE Officers in Mwinilunga have been encouraged to exercise maximum professionalism when dealing with public who come into conflict with the law.

Police Public Complaint Commission chairperson Frederick Musonda said in as much as police officers have enormous powers to maintain law and order they must not abuse these powers by treating people unfairly.

Mr Musonda was speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation in Mwinilunga alongside a public sensitisation stakeholders meeting held yesterday.

He said both police officers and members of the general public must corporate and understand each other’s  roles to avoid conflicts between the two parties.

“Police officers should at all costs exhibit professionalism whenever they are dealing with the public,” he said.

Mr Musonda said the commision is an institution of good governance which people must have confidence in and report any police action related to unfair treatment which can lead to loss of life.

And acting District Commissioner Mwiya Tulani thanked the Commission for conducting a sensitization meeting saying most people in the district did not know where to lodge complaints against unfair police actions.
