BETWAY Zambia has donated sports equipment worth K25, 000 towards the Female Coach Development Programme run by Grassroots Soccer Zambia.
The programme which is aimed at improving the standards of women football is expected to train more than 35 female coaches.
Betway Zambia country manager Panji Kakube said the K25, 000 was raised during the FA Community Shield between Liverpool and Manchester City as Betway pledged to donate K2 of every bet placed on the fixture.
“We are very excited about this donation as it targets women who are going to make a real difference in the community.
“At Betway Zambia we are doing our part by supporting female empowerment programs and the Coach Development Programme is the perfect vehicle for that,” he said.
Grassroots Soccer managing director Boyd Mkandawire was thankful for the donation and what it meant for the future of the programme.
“It is a clear indication that Betway Zambia recognises and appreciates the work that the Skillz Girl Coach Development Programme is doing in the country to enhance the health outcome of young people through female volunteers aged between 18 and 25 years old,” he said.
