BUSINESSMAN DENIES STEALING COPPER WORTH K1.8M

KITWE businessman Daniel Makina Chinyama has appeared in a Kitwe High Court and denied stealing copper cathodes worth K1.8 million

Chinyama, 35, appeared with a Chililabombwe taxi driver, Chipili Chilufya, 32 for aggravated robbery.

The two appeared before Kitwe High Court Judge-in-Charge Justice Timothy Katenekwa during the opening session yesterday.

Details are that on August 28, last year Chinyama and Chilufya in Kitwe stole copper cathodes worth K1.8 million while armed with pistols.

They are alleged to have threatened to use violence on Rajab Bashir Magwila at the time of the theft.

Mr Justice Katenekwa therefore recorded a plea of not guilty and adjourned the matter to January 18, this year for commencement of trial.
