SENIOR Chief Ndungu of Zambezi has called on Government to bring another pontoon to operate on the Zambezi River ahead of the Likumbi lya Mize slated for August this year.

Senior Chief Ndungu told the Daily Nation in an interview that there was need for the provincial administration to consider either bring a bigger pontoon or an extra one to avoid overloading the current one.

He said the current pontoon was not in good state considering the long period it had been used.

‘’The provincial administration should by all means consider putting up a bigger pontoon or bring in another one so that it could work side by side with this old one,’’ he said.

Senior Chief Ndungu said the organising committee is this year anticipating more visitors, including tourists especially that the traditional ceremony had been twinned with the provincial investment expo. The traditional ruler further appealed to Government to expedite works on the police post.

He said due to anticipated increase in the number of visitors this year, there was need for security to be beefed up.
