THE Zambia Volleyball Association (ZAVA) has engaged Minister of Tourism and Arts Ronald Kaoma Chitotela as patron for the association.
On November 5, 2019, the volleyball executive led by association president Nakaonga Kakoma had a closed door meeting with the minister who is also the Commission of African Tourism chairperson.
Among other issues discussed in this meeting was to request the minister be the patron for the sport and the minister indicated willingness to the call being the father for sport of volleyball in Zambia.
Association general secretary Gift Chesekela yesterday said the gesture by the Minister of Tourism and Arts gave ZAVA hope of rebranding the fast growing sport with its leadership.
“The greatest hope was on much needed contrast from the successes he scored in different portfolios he saved and the current chairmanship of the commission of African Tourism that attests to this fact.
“The association is so thankful to the minister for his dedication and self-sacrifice despite the busy schedule he has but opted to support the Zambia Volleyball fraternity and this can’t go unnoticed,” Chesekela said.
He said the association hoped to learn a lot from his inclusion to the volleyball administration and called on all volleyball stake holders to support the minister so that together they could develop the sport and impart positively to the communities.
“We wish the Honourable minister a favourable and conducive sport environment and shall support him fully,” he said.
