CHOMA Secondary School and Kabulonga Girls High School were yesterday crowned 2019 Copa Coca Cola Champions after beating Ituna Secondary School and Chingola Central in the finals played yesterday at NASDEC sports complex in Lusaka.
Choma retained their title after coming from behind to beat Ituna from Northern Province 3-2 in a tightly contested final.
Ituna scored first through Lungu Isaac whose goal was cancelled out by Wisdom Chirwa’s equaliser.
Ngambi Richardson put Choma ahead with a beautiful strike before half-time.
However, Emmanuel Chanda levelled the scores before Chirwa completed his brace with a sublime shot which sealed Choma’s victory much to the delight of head coach Hamudud Maimbo who bagged his second Coca Cola Cup as coach.
Hamudu hailed his players for their determination to defend the trophy which is used to identify players who end up representing Zambia at various national teams.
Meanwhile, Kabulonga Girls became the first second secondary school in Lusaka to win the Coca Cola championship.
First-half goals from Melisa Malaba and Rosemary Nyirongo were enough for Kabulonga to beat Chingola Central 2-0 in the final played at NASDEC sports complex.
And Zambia Schools Sports Association president Chipangano Tembo who was impressed with the talent displayed by the pupils hailed tournament sponsors Coca Cola for their continued commitment to contribute to the growth of soccer in the country.
Tembo is hopeful that the tournament will continue to grow and mentor future stars.
