WE have resolved to curb prostitution in the Central Business District (CBD) and have so far issued warning notices to three lodges, the Chongwe Municipal Council has assured.
Public Relations officer, Namasiku Njovu said the local authority had gone on the ground to probe the matter following by residents to curb the vice which had become rampant in the CBD.
“We went on the ground and confirmed the happenings are true.
We have done our own findings and have since issued warning notices to the managements at 3 places that we visited where sex workers have been parading themselves in and around these places.
“Some are permanently booked at these lodges and one of the night clubs was admitting under-age clients. We hope the warning notices will be adhered to. However, we can confirm that we have seen a decline in the activities since the warnings. We hope this will be permanent.
Ms Njovu said the council would continue to carry out patrols to check on compliance and that the law would visit those found wanting.
“We therefore urge all lodges and night clubs to pay heed to the timely warning” she said.
