GOVERNMENT should extensively consult on the issue of sales tax as tax regimes are being implemented, Livingstone Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) president, Namakau Siyanga has said.
Ms Siyanga noted that the Government must be commended for tirelessly working hard to engage cooperating partners for economic recovery.
She said the State was mandated to fully explain how sales tax would work to the nation.
Ms Siyanga said in an interview that the government should be resolute on implementing the sales tax regime to avoid the unnecessary losses which might have been associated with the VAT system.
“The government must be commended for working hard in improving the economy through various programmes that have been put in place,”
And Ms Siyanga has welcomed the World Bank for hosting its International Development Association (IDA) 18th High Level Mid-Term Review Meeting in Livingstone.
She said the meeting signified the World Bank’s confidence in Africa’s development and also help in marketing the nation to investors who would want to invest in Zambia.
Ms Siyanga said a stable environment was an indication that the country was willing to accelerate its market for development purposes.
“This visit will as well expose a lot of tourism activities the country has to offer to the rest of the world by allowing our visitors experience the wonderful activities and share the experience,” she said.
The International Development Association 18th High Level Mid-Term Review Meeting was opened by President Edgar Lungu on Tuesday in Livingstone.
