FARMERS in Ntambu and Makangu areas in Mwinilunga district have complained about the poor state of the Makangu road.
Patrick Sambongo, a farmer, said the poor state of the road was negatively affecting the transportation of the farm produce.
He said the drainage system was poor especially during the rainy season, making it difficult for motor vehicles to pass as the water level was knee-high.
Mr Sambongo said huge potholes had developed on the road despite numerous appeals to the local authority to have the road worked on.
“We have farmers here who entirely depend on this road, but its current state is not appealing at all,” he said.
Charity Muwana also a farmer had similar complaints about the poor state of the road.
“The state of the road is an eyesore and is truly disgraceful and embarrassing, to say the least.
This is unacceptable and exceptionally dangerous,” she complained.
Abel Muliki complained that for many years the road had not been worked on.
He said the residents had made numerous requests to the local authority but nothing has been done.
Efforts to get a comment from Mwinilunga Town council Secretary Felix Kanyenda proved futile by press time.
