DIRECTOR of Public Prosecutions Fulata Shawa-Siyunyi has given consent to prosecute National Housing Authority Director of Finance Charles Chewe for alleged corruption.

Chewe, 54, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission last week for failure to follow applicable laid down procedures or guidelines, contrary to anti-corruption laws.

Particulars of the offence are that between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012, Chewe, being director of finance at National Housing Authority (NHA) awarded a tender to Blackson Zulu, a debt collector without following laid down procurement procedures.

Chewe, of house number 17 Nasser Road in Lusaka, has since denied the charge before Lusaka Magistrate Felix Kaoma and the case been adjourned to April 10, 2019 for commencement of trial.
