THE just-ended investment expos in Luapula, Central and Northern Province have attracted more than 100 companies who are ready to invest in various sectors of the economy.

Luapula Province Minister Nickson Chilangwa said about 70 companies had shown interest to invest in the province while 50 were already on the ground finishing up paper work to start operations..

Mr Chilangwa added that with the incoming investment, LuapulaProvince would contribute to the gross domestic product of the country.

“Luapula Province stands to be one of the provinces in the next four years to be a major contributor to the country’s Gross domestic product with its innovative ideas that will help boost our country’s market portfolio,” he said.

And Central Province Minister Sydney Mushanga said the expo in his province attracted investment of about $30 million from 36 companies which in turn were expected to employ more than 5, 000 Zambian.

He said some investors were interested in the energy sector to increase the capacity of electricity supply and about 720 mega watts would be developed in Mumbwa.
