THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) will next week start the second phase of distributing football equipment countrywide to lower division sides.
This time, the Division two and three teams will receive 10 training soccer balls and two sets of jerseys.
Speaking in an interview in Lusaka, FAZ communications manager Desmond Katongo said Northern, Luapula and Muchinga lower division clubs are scheduled to receive the equipment next week.
“FAZ will begin the second phase of the equipment distribution exercise to Division two and three teams. The president Andrew Kamanga is determined to continue uplifting the standards of the game at lower level in line with his campaign promises in 2016. Division two and three clubs are less funded, so needs support,” Katongo said.
In the first phase conducted in 2017, FAZ distributed a set of jerseys and five training balls plus K5, 000 to all lower division teams in the country.
Meanwhile, FAZ is saddened by the death of former City of Lusaka defender and coach, Erick Kulu. “We are profoundly saddened by the death of Mr Kulu who died on Saturday (5th January 2019) evening after an illness. The football community has lost a man who played a great role in the growth of City of Lusaka Football Club. Mr Kulu will be remembered for his great service to the club as a player and coach.” May I take this opportunity to wish the Kulu family Gods strength during this trying moment.
