THE football Association of Zambia has launched a new CoPa kit which will be used by the under-23 national soccer team as it competes at the 2019 Under-23 Africa Cup of Nations set to kick off tomorrow in Cairo, Egypt.
The new kit consists of three sets of jerseys for both home and away fixtures for all the national teams
FAZ has maintained the national colours Orange, Green and White jerseys with a trademark CoPa symbol on the right side of the chest while the association’s iconic badge is printed on the left side.
Zambia will be donning the Orange jersey with black shorts for all its home games while the Green and the All-White jerseys will be used for away fixtures.
The new CoPa kit launch impressed Minister of Sports, Youth and Child Development, Emmanuel Mulenga who hailed FAZ for rebranding the national team jersey which acts as a symbol of national identity.
Mulenga said rebranding the CoPa jersey is a very good business strategy that requires the support of all Zambians because it will help the associations to generate resources.
“I wish to take this opportunity to commend the Football Association of Zambia, for the continued work in ensuring the growth of football across the country.
“It is gratifying to note that the association has taken the initiative of creating the copper brand to ensure maximum generation of resources. This will result in maximising resources for the development of football in our country,” Mulenga said.
And FAZ president Andrew Kamanga is confident that the design answers to the various concerns raised by the public.
Kamanga said FAZ has been exploring various ventures around kitting the various national teams after renowned global brands like Kappa and Mafro failed to meet the association’s expectations.
He said the new CoPa brand which was born last year and was used at the CHAN tournament in Morocco is a true reflection of Zambian pride as it is a testament of the industriousness of Zambians.
Kamanga said the CoPa brand is a perfect response to the Zambian government driven policy of home grown solutions to Zambian problems.
Meanwhile, Zambia Sports Fans Association patron Peter Makembo who gave the opening prayer during the launch at Barcelona Academy in Lusaka has called on FAZ to make the new CoPa kit replica available to soccer fans at an affordable price.
