ZAMBIA have been drawn in a ‘group of death’ with Morocco and Algeria in the men’s handball Africa Nations Cup scheduled for January 16 to 26 in Tunisia.
The tournament to attract 16 teams will act as the African qualifying tournament for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and 2021 World Men’s Handball Championship in Egypt.
According to the fixtures released yesterday, Zambia has been placed in Group D alongside Algeria, Morocco and Congo.
Zambia will open their campaign for their maiden title against seven-time champions Algeria on January 16 before taking on Morocco the next day and finish off with a clash against Congo two days later.
Handball Association of Zambia (HAZ) president Victor Bwalya-Banda said the team was scheduled to regroup for residential camp next week.
Bwalya-Banda called on the players to work hard as they would face tough sides with experienced players.
