UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema has demonstrated his opportunistic character by betraying his vice-president Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, Former UPND Deputy Spokesperson Edwin Lifwekelo has said.
Mr Lifwekelo noted that Zambian were now able to see through Mr Hichilema’s schemes of manipulating fellow leaders.
He said the late President Levy Mwanawasa, on pages 211- 212 of his memoirs, gave an insightful and appropriate description of the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema’s character derived from their encounters.
He said the late President described Mr Hichilema as an opportunistic person who could not be trusted.
“Those of us that have worked closely with Hakainde Hichilema know that this observation from Mwanawasa memoirs is true. Hichilema doesn’t really care about Zambia, he only cares about becoming president by whatever means, no matter who he uses and abuses,” Mr Lifwekelo said.
Mr Lifwekelo said the opposition leader was an insecure dictator who had never been elected in his political life.
“Hichilema reaps where he has not sown. He sidelined GBM after using him. Hakainde is such a coward that he cannot look his own vice president in the face to dialogue but instead sends UPND thugs to insult him,” Mr Lifwekelo said.
Mr Lifwekelo said Mr Hichilema shielded behind his so called National Management Committee meeting and engineered a vote of no confidence to suspend his vice President.
“Hakainde has become so desperate because he knows that 2021 is his last bus stop before he arrives at his destination of political oblivion. The man has no morals,” he said.
“Can a person who unfairly treats close loyal friends like waste and frequently casts them aside like diapers be a true friend of Zambia!” Mr Lifwekelo said.
