UNITED Party for Nation Development (UPND) leader Hakainde Hichilema will never be president of the nation because he is unforgiving, former UPND Kafue Town Council Chairman Thomas Zulu has said.
Drumming up support for the Patriotic Front (PF) candidate in the forthcoming by-election for a new Kafue District Council Chairperson, Brigadier General Moono Simakoloyi, Mr Zulu told the Daily Nation that UPND was a tribalist and bitter party.
He accused Mr Hichilema of relating to his followers differently based on their region of origin.
“HH will never be president of Zambia because he has an unforgiving heart.
He segregates his followers, those that comes from his preferred provinces are highly favoured,” Mr Zulu said.
He disclosed that he decided to leave the party because he was suspended for simply trying to lobby for development from Government for Kafue town.
He also accused the UPND of being demon possessed by trying to prevent its elected officials from engaging Government on issues of development.
“I resigned and left all the luxury trappings of that office. I would have pleaded or begged the UPND to spare me if I had wanted from the unconstitutional decision it had taken by suspending me wrongly. They could not even state on the charge sheet the crime I committed,” he said.
But Lusaka Province UPND Chairman, Obvious Mwaliteta, rubbished Zulu’s statement saying he was simply trying to prove his relevance to the PF by insulting HH and the UPND.
“You know, one qualification to get a job from the PF government is that you have to insult HH and the UPND. Zulu is just looking for a job from PF because he is hunger stricken,” Mr Mwaliteta said.
Mr Zulu, who was Kafue District Council Chairperson, last year ditched the opposition UPND to join the ruling party PF, hence the by-election.
