MY executive and I are tirelessly at work, ensuring that the running of the beautiful game becomes commercially viable to clubs and their administrators, Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga has said.
Speaking after witnessing Green FC win the Chawama off season Christmas tournament after beating Papa’s FC 1-0 in the final played at Chawama grounds on Sunday, Kamanga said he was motivated to work on delivering his promises after watching the tightly contested final.
Kamanga hailed the talent exhibited by young people in the compound which has contributed in producing coaches and players who have represented Zambia at national team level. Kamanga praised tournament sponsors, Africa Bet Zambia for promoting the growth of football in Zambia through the sponsorship of the tournament which featured more than 20 football clubs.
“I would like to thank the organisers and the teams that participated. My gratitude also goes to the sponsors and the fans. Moments like this spur me to work extra hard to deliver on my promises to help develop the sport,” Kamanga said.
Meanwhile Chawama Member of Parliament, Lawrence Sichalwe who was the guest of honour at the final, encouraged tournament organisers, Chawama Youth Integration to continue complementing government’s efforts in transforming the lives of the youths in Chawama.
Sichalwe who is Chiefs and Traditional Affairs Minister reaffirmed Government’s commitment to create a favourable environment which will motivate youths to participate in productive activities. Green FC walked away with a total prize money of K20, 000 for winning the tournament while Papa FC pocketed K15, 000 as second prize.
