A  LUSAKA resident has sued Legana Meat Products and Pick ‘n’ Pay over sausages that she claims was contaminated with a used condom and human flesh.

Luyando Kopakopa, a clinical medical student, is claiming damages for tortious liability arising out of her consumption of the disputed sausage.

Ms. Kopakopa says on or about August 3, 2019 she bought one kilogram of Hungarian sausage from Pick ‘n’Pay Makeni Mall and stored it in a freezer until August 6, 2019 when she opted to give some to her husband and she tasted some. She said it was at that point when she encountered what appeared to be a used condom which contained some meat inside, which appeared like human meat.

She said she went into a convulsion, stress, fear and ultimately excessive vomiting.   Ms. Kopakopa added that as result she went into rage to a point where she had no option but to alert the public through a video on social media of the danger and fear she encountered by eating Legana sausage.

“As a result the plaintiff undertook the trouble of seeking medical attention and found that she was traumatised, which led into excessive vomiting and stomach upset which led to the inflammation of the ribs.

“The plaintiff now claims damages for tortious liability arising out of consumption of the nature and appearance of the casing of the same sausage which was substandard and a total negligence on the part of Legana, general damages for nausea, excessive vomiting, including inflammation of the ribs,” Ms. Kopakopa said.

She is also seeking an order that Legana be advised and or guided to produce products in conformity with general standards to make would-be clients safe as the said sausage was of lesser standard as it was different from other sausages Legana produces.
