MINISTER of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Christopher Yaluma has been dropped from the PF central committee and his position as mines chairperson for missing almost all the meetings since his appointment without any apology.

And the party has given Northern Province PF executive committee chairperson Lazarus Chungu a seven-day ultimatum to exculpate himself in writing over the party’s failure to file in nominations for the forthcoming Mfinshe ward by-elections while the entire Mungwi and Malole district executive has been dissolved.  Sources within the party who spoke on condition of anonymity yesterday told the Daily Nation that Mr. Yaluma’s dismissal was long overdue as he had conspicuously missed all central committee meetings without tendering any apology or getting prior permission to be absent.

In a dismissal letter signed by party secretary general, Davies Mwila dated March 18, 2019, Mr. Yaluma was dismissed for missing three consecutive central committee meetings which as per party constitution, makes him cease to be a member.  Meanwhile, Mr. Mwila has given Northern Province PF executive committee chairperson Lazarus Chungu seven days to exculpate himself in writing over the party’s failure to file in nominations as it was clear that he failed to supervise and file-in the nominations for the ward by-election in Mungwi district. He said this action has been found not to be in line with the responsibilities of the provincial executive and further violates regulation 29 of the Party Constitution.

“Accordingly, you are given seven days in which to exculpate yourself in writing to my office. Also note that failure to give convincing reasons, I will have no choice but to dissolve your Committee”, the letter further read.

In another letter to Mr. Chungu, Mr. Mwila announced the dissolution of the Mungwi and Malole constituency committees with immediate effect.

“I write to inform you that Mungwi District and Malole Constituency Committees have been dissolved with immediate effect for failure to file-in nominations on 14th March, 2019 for the Mfinshe ward by-election of Malole Constituency.

“In light of the above development, the vice council chairperson, Mungwi District, Kelvin Chafilwa will act as district chairman until when the interim committee is put in place”, the letter read on part.
