A 33-YEAR-OLD businessman of Lusaka has been sued in a Lusaka Magistrates Court for allegedly assaulting former Post Newspaper Editor in Chief Fred M’membe’s wife, Mutinta.
Lingson Mwamwembe is charged with assault, occasioning bodily harm contrary to Section 248 of the Penal Code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that Mwamwembe on February 17, in Lusaka assaulted Ms M’membe there by occasioning her bodily harm.
The matter has been allocated to Magistrate T Mulenga where he is expected to take plea soon.
Meanwhile a 43-year-old soldier appeared in a Lusaka Magistrates Court for murder.
Likanda Akelekwa of C16 Army headquarters is charged with murder contrary to Section 200 of the Penal Code chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
Particulars of the offence are that on November 11, Akelekwa in Lusaka murdered Margret Chilufya.
Akelekwa will soon appear in court for explanation of the charge and possible committal to the High Court as the offence can only be tried by the High Court.
