THE Ministry of Health (MoH) has procured a new modern CR Computerised X-ray equipment for Nakonde District Hospital in Muchinga province, Nakonde Member of Parliament Yizukanji Siwanzi confirmed yesterday.
Mr Siwanzi said in an interview that the X-ray machine had already been installed at the hospital to curb some of the challenges patients were facing to access x-ray services.
‘‘We would like to commended government through the ministry of health for installing a modern CR X-ray machine at the newly constructed Nakonde district hospital.
This is a huge asset for our hospital and will be of great benefit to local patients,’’ Mr Siwanzi said.
Mr Siwanzi said the CR X-ray machine was equipped with modern technology and was able to do all imaging and radiography services with instant results.
He said prior to the installation of the new equipment, the district hospital was operating without an X-ray machine and that patients were crossing into neighbouring Tanzania to access X-ray services.
‘’This is a very good development for the people of Nakonde, it was very expensive back then to access X-ray services, as patients we were required to cross to Tanzania for X-ray services at a fee.
But with this equipment that we have at our hospital people will be able to access the services free of charge, ’’ he said
Mr Siwanzi said the state of the art equipment would enable digital X-Rays and other imagining services to be conducted at the hospital.
He said the installation of the CR X-ray machine at Nakonde district hospital was a clear demonstration of government’s resolve to take quality health care services to the citizens.
