THE hacking of a telephone conversation call between two senior Government officials by unknown peoples is a sign that Government has been invaded by criminals, Zambia Republic party (ZRP) president Wright Musoma has charged.

Commenting on a recorded conversation between Northern Province Permanent Secretary, Elias Kamanga and Public Service Management Division (PSMD) Permanent Secretary, Boniface Chimbwali, currently in circulation on social media, Mr Musoma said the cartel and its people were within the system and fighting against Government, working hand in hand with opposition parties.

In the recorded conversation, Mr Chimbwali is heard chiding Mr Kamanga over the alleged suspension of the latter’s deputy Permanent Secretary.

In an interview with Daily Nation, Mr Musoma wondered why it had taken long to flash out such criminals despite many incidences concerning the hacking of private conversations.

He said there had been instances in the past when government officials such as former Finance Minister , Alexander Chikwanda and former Information minister Chishimba Kambwili had been victims of  telephone taping or having their conversation recorded.

The Inspector General of Police, Kakoma Kanganja and Special Assistant to the President had their conversation intercepted and published, “ and nothing has done.”

He described the act as criminal and wondered what the Security system were doing to allow such to happen to government officials.

Mr Musoma said   his party was concerned and disappointed that nothing has been done despite many people being victims.

He urged government to call for a cabinet meeting to discuss the development.

He has also urged President Edgar Lungu to move in before unscrupulous people put the country on fire.

He also called on Zambia police, Zambia Information and Communication Technology and Authority (ZICTA) and other relevant authorities to ensure that culprits are brought to book.

“As ZRP we are very concerned that the hacking of private conversation has continued which is a danger to the country and as politicians we are now living in fear and I  therefore call  upon President Lungu to move in quickly and ensure that people behind that are brought to book,” said Mr Musoma.
