UNITED National Independence Party (UNIP) will hold its national congress in December this year to elect new leadership, in readiness for the 2021 general elections, party national secretary, Jonathan Kenani, has announced.
Mr Kenani said the party had begun reorganising itself in readiness to bounce back to power after the general elections.
He said the former ruling party still had many members across the country and that the congress would help revive it.
Mr Kenani also called for more people to join UNIP as it was still attractive.
He emphasised that the national congress was not meant to divide the party as all relevant officials would be involved.
Mr Kenani said that UNIP would participate in both Presidential and parliamentary elections in 2021.
“We are not going to this congress as a divided party, it is one party and we want to revive and resuscitate UNIP with a view of participating in the 2021 elections,” he said.
