FORMER Foreign Affairs minister Kabinga Pande has charged that the opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) cannot form government as it is slowly becoming what he describes as a White Elephant.
Mr Pande said in an interview that shortly after the defection of over 40 UPND members in Chavuma at the weekend, the opposition political party was slowly losing touch with the grassroots because people have realized that it was not going anywhere.
He said in as much as it boasted of the region being its stronghold, the people had lost interest in it.
“Come 2021, the UPND will remain a shell which will make it not possible to even form government. This is because the people have realized that it is not going anywhere and that is why there are defections on a daily basis,” Mr Pande observed.
He advised the people in the province to rally behind and support the PF government and its development agenda because the opposition had nothing to offer.
Meanwhile, Mr Panda has called on voters in Sewe Mungole ward to vote for the PF candidate Jonathan Kayombi in Tomorrow’s local government by-election.
“It is my humble appeal to the people of Sewe to make sure that they give 100 percent votes to the PF this coming by election,” he said.
He said voting for the PF candidate would make it easy for development to trickle down to the people.
The Sewe Mungole ward sead fell vacant after the the resignation of UPND councilor and is being contested by two political parties namely, PF and UPND who have featured Jonathan Kayombo and Evans Kapasata respectively.
