SUSPECTED UPND cadres on Thursday afternoon took turns to threaten and haul insults at one of the key witnesses in the Sesheke parliamentary by-election petition being heard in the Livingstone High Court.
The suspected cadres accused Edgar Ngowani, an Assistant Superintendent from Division Police Mongu, of causing confusion during the by-election in Sesheke where he was chief operations officer.
Immediately after the court adjourned, some suspected UPND cadres attending the court proceedings charged at Mr. Ngowani and hurled insults at him while others threatened to deal with him.
Mr. Ngowani had to be whisked away from the crowd to avoid further abuse by the cadres as he was yet to be cross examined.
In his testimony on Thursday Mr. Ngowani told Judge Gertrude Chawatama that he was the chief operations officer during the Sesheke parliamentary by-election which recorded some ugly scenes of beatings and tear gassing.
He also told the Court that the UPND team in Sesheke defied police instructions not to hold a public rally on the same day as President Edgar Lungu.
This did not go well with the UPND cadres who took turns insulting Mr Ngowani.
