FIVE times league champions Kabwe Warriors escalated to seventh position on the league table after humbling Power Dynamos 2-1 in a week 37 MTN/FAZ Super League fixture played yesterday at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe.
Patrick Kasunga and Nelson Maziwisa contributed a goal each and helped Kabwe Warriors collect maximum points away from home.
Kasunga converted a spot kick which was awarded to Kabwe Warriors when Twiza Chaibela was fouled inside the eighteen yard by defender Jackson Kakunta in the 26th minute. Maziwisa doubled Warriors lead when he headed in a brilliantly taken cross from Akakulubelwa Mwachiaba, ten minutes before the break.
Dynamos attempts to find the back of the net were unsuccessful as striker Alex Ngonga and his colleagues failed to convert their chances despite having dominated possession in both halves of the game.
Striker Piere Mindeke sent his shot wide after being set up by Ngonga while Lameck Kafwaya, with only the keeper to beat, hit the cross bar with his sublime shot from inside the sixteen yard box.
However it was super sub, Martin Kayuwa who scored the consolation goal for Dynamos in the 75th minute when he headed in a cross from the left side of the pitch.
The away victory excited coach Tennant Chulumba who hailed his team’s tactical ability in the victory.
The victory also ended Warriors four year jinx of failing to beat Dynamos in the super division.
Meanwhile, Green Buffaloes ended their two-game winless streak after edging Now Monze Swallows 1-0, thanks to Youremember Banda’s 46th minute strike. Buffaloes sealed their qualification for the 2019 CAF Confederations Cup after dislodging Green Eagles from third position on the 20-teamtable. The army- sponsored side is now on 71 points, three points ahead of Eagles who were thumped 2-1 by Buildcon on Saturday.
