OUR task is to invest in infrastructure that will generate the much needed revenue for the council both in the short and long term, says Mushindamo Town Council chairman Lackson Mulumbi.
Mr Mulumbi told the Daily Nation that the focus of the local authority this year was to use local resources to build the council’s ability to raise revenue.
He said that currently the district did not have corporate institutions that could be contributing to the council’s revenue base.
He said the council’s focus this year will be in the construction of housing facilities that will largely benefit education and health personnel considering the fact that most schools did not have enough accommodation.
He stated that the facilities will not be for free but will be rented out to would be civil servants in the district.
‘’That will give us as a local authority some revenue but at the same time, provide a service to those communities,’’ he said.
‘’So, we want to try and use this opportunity to build this infrastructure which is needed and at the same time return a bit of resources out of that investment so that we are able to provide other services to the people in the district,’’ he said.
