FAZ executive committee member Elijah Chileshe has written to the Zambia Police Service crime intelligence unit seeking protection against FAZ president Andrew Kamanga for being a whistle blower.
Chileshe, popularly known as Shenko, said after reporting general secretary Adrian Kashala to police for alleged fraud, he was seeking protection which was in line with the Public Disclosure (Whistle blower) Act of 2010 section 42.
In a letter obtained by the Daily Nation Sport, Chileshe said he was seeking protection as he found it strange that Kamanga should ask him to exculpate himself for reporting Kashala to police when he was merely doing his duty as an ordinary Zambian.
He said the action by the FAZ president amounted to interference in matters already under investigation by investigative wings believed to have been perpetuated by a senior police officer attached to Football House.
“Further to my letter dated December 12, where I reported a complaint of funds for Nkwazi Football Club, a payment from NAPSA FC, I now find it very strange that I have received a letter from Mr Andrew Kamanga to whom my letter was not even addressed or copied. “Furthermore, this amounts to interference in matters already under investigations by the investigative wings over a matter perpetuated by a senior police officer who is attached to FAZ. I trust this matter will be expedited as soon as possible,” the letter reads in part Last week Kamanga wrote to Chileshe giving him four days to exculpate himself for reporting Kashala to police over alleged fraud without exhausting internal procedures.
Chileshe, however, responded in writing that he was at liberty as a Zambian citizen to report any suspected criminal activities to relevant authorities mandated by the law as FAZ did not have powers to prosecute criminal offences.
