A youth who is alleged to have killed a Copperbelt University (CBU) lecturer last month, has appeared in a Kitwe Magistrate Court for explanation of charges.
Chiluba Mwale 27, is alleged to have murdered Maximilian Mainza before raping the lecturer’s companion on October 5, this year.
Mwale appeared before Magistrate Kampinda Chipamu for explanation of the charges of murder, aggravated robbery and rape.
In count one, Mwale is alleged to have murdered Mr Mwanza, who was found dead in the driver’s seat of his vehicle in Nkana West.
The send charge is that of aggravated robbery in which the youth allegedly went away with two mobile phones, one hand bag and K80 cash all valued at K2,830.
The items belonged to Sibongile Mwale.
In the last count, the accused is charged with rape of Sibongile Mwale on October 5, this year without her consent. Mwale told the court that he had understood the charges against him.
The magistrate informed him that he would continue to appear in the subordinate court until instructions are given by the Director of Public Prosecution to have the matter committed to the high court for trial.

The case was adjourned to November 22, this year for mention.
