AS a way of ploughing back to the community, the Zambia Airports Corporation Limited (ZACL) has donated assorted household goods to SOS Children’s Village in Livingstone worth K 40, 000.
The donation included food, laundry materials, bathroom items, cement and tiles for the refurbishment of the 15 homes.
ZACL Communications and Brand Manager, Mweembe Sikaulu, said her organisation’s relationship with SOS Children’s Village started many years ago particularly with the Livingstone branch.
“Today Christmas has come early and we at Zambia Airports Corporation Limited are thrilled at the opportunity to assist the children of SOS children’s village in Livingstone.
“It is our understanding that the SOS Children’s village in Livingstone cares for 158 children in 15 family houses and I am happy to note that throughout the years, ZACL through Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport has been able to assist when required,” she said.
Ms Sikaulu said that the decision to tiles the 15 houses was arrived at after realizing the need to make children’s homes better.
“Zambia Airports Corporation Limited remains deeply committed to making a substantial and tangible impact in the communities in which we operate.
“The corporation has for many years been engaged in various acts of Corporate Social Responsibility, helping communities as well as providing a wide array of support towards institutions and facilities,” she said.
In receiving the donation, SOS Children’s Village regional manager, Golden Mwinsa, said the donation would complement the institution’s budget implementation.
Mr Mwinsa said that providing quality care, education and health to more than 155 children was a mammoth task.
He said the donation would go a long way in helping in providing quality services to the children.
