ZAMBIA Daily Mail Newspaper has dragged a local music promoter to the Lusaka High Court to demand over K300, 000 for co-hosting gospel singer, Sinach, in 2017.
The media organisation is claiming K360, 000 from Andrew Chola including interest at current bank lending rates from date of the writ until payment costs of the court action.
According to a statement of claim filed in court yesterday, Zambia Daily Mail stated that it entered into an agreement with Andrew Chola to host the gospel artist Sinach in September 2017 who was to conduct shows for profit.
It stated that it was obligated to publish promotional materials and distribute newspapers to VIP guests as well as contribute $5, 000 while Andrew Chola was to pay it K360, 000 sponsorship fee and sell of tickets.
“By a memorandum in writing, the two parties entered into a business undertaking in which they were to work together to host a Gospel artist known as Sinach in or about September 2017 who was to conduct some shows for profit,” partially read the claim.
“The plaintiff was obligated to publish some promotional materials, distribute some newspapers to VIP guests and contribute the sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) towards the hosting of the events which it did, while the defendant was obligated to pay the plaintiff the sum of 100,000 as sponsorship fee and pay the plaintiff K2.00 per ticket and sold at K300.00, K1.50 per ticket sold at K100.00and 0.50 pet ticket sold at K50.00 during the show, among other things,” read the claim.
The media organisation stated that the tickets, and the event was consequently held but the defendant neglected to pay the K360, 000 owed to it. It stated that it held several meetings with Andrew Chola to discuss the matter during which the latter made written commitments promising to liquidate the same but had to date not done so, hence the court action.
